The school was started with just three blind pupil on the roll on January 14th, 1926. In the year 1973 it was upgraded to High School and later to a Higher Secondary School in the year 1989. Since 1979 the School functioning under the administration of the differently abled Department of the Government of Tamil Nadu. The strength of the School now has reached 200 Students with 50 teaching and non-teaching staff.
